New toy: Nikon 85mm F1.8 G

Tivoli by night F1.8, 1/200, ISO 450
Yesterday we got a new lens in the gear: the new 85mm F1.8 G from Nikon, launched this year. Being a FX lens, it means 127.5mm on the DX crop sensors. Lovely little lens, extremely sharp according to the reviews that we read. We will not show you the box or how we unpack (all of you that had a Nikon product knows how a Nikon box is looking like, the rest ... probably don't care). Pink F2.2, 1/320, ISO 100
We went with the new toy in Tivoli for some evening low light tests. So what are the findings? It is very sharp, starting even at 1.8 has nice bokeh and nice colors. On the other hand, it presents a lot of color aberrations (purple fringing). Drinking beer in a spring evening F2.8, 1/200, ISO 1000
House on the lake F1.8, 1/200, ISO 360
Yellow tulip
F2.8, 1/200, ISO 1600

  1. Very nice. I have the older 85/1.8, but have not tried it on digital yet. Now that I see these I think it's time I did.
