Palace of Parliament - part1

Today we visited the famous Palace of Parliament from Bucharest. The huge megalomaniac building ordered by Ceausescu in early eighties. We lived so many yeas in Bucharest without having any interest to visit Palace of Parliament, but now we decided to give it a try. Its quite interesting to see how huge amounts of money have been spent by the communist regime on luxurious interiors while the people were starving. Probably this is why so many Romanians are not keen to see the current house of their parliament.
The palace itself is impressive by its size, being the second largest administrative building in the world as surface, after Pentagon and the third largest as volume. However it is the heaviest. We will not continue with many numbers, as they can be easily found on wiki. Ceausescu was planing to build the center of Bucharest as a replica of Phenian, the play ground of his dear friend Kim Il-sung. The price paid was the demolishing of many historical building from the old city center.
